Shadow of the West is a supernatural Western comic book, combining many of the elements of my childhood: cowboys, zombies, werewolves, voodoo, and the Spanish ghost tales that my Texas-born mother and abuela had told me, as well as the stories passed down generations of our family. Instead of terrifying a small boy, those stories had instilled in me a lifelong love of horror and the ravenous creatures who shunned the sunlight.

During the great expansion west following the Civil War, the period known as the "Wild West", immigrants and indigenous peoples collided headlong. The great frontier became a magnet for all kinds strange travelers from all parts of the world. Simply stating you were "from Europe" could explain away any "eccentricities" such as traveling only at night and bringing your coffin with you or the shackles and chains used for nights with a full moon.
Return with us now, to those thrilling days of yesteryear to a "Wild West" that never existed , except in "B" westerns and comic books. Add some American Indian myth, Cajun Hoo Doo, and good old Texas Tall Tales and you have the Nightranger and his companion "Coyote the Trickster" and their fantastic adventures in the Old West...
And finally learn  why the Masked Man  used silver bullets!
